How do you improve something that was working perfectly?

WHen I was home on R&R, I went straight to Gallery with my sister to buy furniture for my new house.

My sister has MS and is having problems walking. THANK YOU for the bank of scooters.

They made her laugh and took away her embarassment over being a little slow.

That scooter turned a chore into a fun afternoon for her. THANK YOU again and again.

Also, thank you for your USO donations.

How about adding a Starbucks?  Then I could enjoy a hot cup of java while walking around and looking over your wonderful selection of furniture!

My condolences on the loss of your magnificent store!  You have done so much for the city of Houston and it is most appreciated!  I am positive that when your rebuild, it will be bigger and better!

As far as suggestions......although it was a very "open" area, I always felt like I had to travel through a maze to go to different set-ups of furniture, which was very frustrating due to the large crowds that are in there.  I would hope that you would make more of a standard aisle to get to the displays of living room furniture, etc. instead of having to weave in and out.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.....and know without doubt, you will prevail through this tragedy, only to be better (if that's possible).

Best Regards,

Cindy

How about making things more affordable or extending credit to people.  I actually pay all my bills on time unfortunately I do have things on my credit from a time when things were rough as a single parent...so now I pay the price...cant buy anything unless im paying cash...so if things are too expensive we go without...so I would say more affordable or extend credit to people who can prove it no what one's credit report always says.

My father in law had a hard time finding out where the furniture was made.  He tries to buy US whenever he can, but he could not find out when he was at Gallery about a year or so ago...

Dear Mr. McInvale,

I must first say that I, like other Houstonians, deeply appreciate your efforts for the entire city of Houston and the surrounding areas.  You're an angel for our community!!!

My suggestion is to have a few touch screens at the entry so that customers can easily find the area of the merchandise they are looking for.  Although I like looking around the store, it could sometimes be exhausting to go in the wrong direction looking for furniture then have to go all the way back across the store in another direction.

I'm looking forward to the re-opening...

All things being equal, I'd like to see Gallery Furniture take the lead in sustainable furnishings. I think biodegradable packagings, recycled furniture stuffing, low-chemical treatments, and even on-site used furniture recycling (pick up the old sofa for recycling when you deliver the new one?) would be a great example that the rest of Houston may follow. This should be in addition to the furniture you already specialize in to keep a strong customer base.

I also like the Starbucks idea.

Put a location in the woodlands, next to the target @ I45. There are a couple of empty buildings there (for years), so I'm sure you will get a good price break.

Marco

"When life deals you lemons, make lemonade."

This is Mattress Mack.  The fire was a lot of lemons, so he, his family & employees will make lemonade.

Why not make real lemonade and serve it for everyone to drink when the showroom reopens?

We are in the South that were known for drinking ice cold lemonade or tea.

I think live piano music would be a great thing to have at the new gallery furniture.

Thanks for the suggestion of a location in the Woodlands.  But for now, we're focused on the original location.  There's enough to do there!

Thank you for your suggestion, as parking is something we are working on.  And remember, actually, Gallery Furniture always offers free cookies!  Delicious sugar cookies, chocolate chip, and sometimes even raisin!

Dear Mac,

I think you should make Gallery Furniture solar powered. That would be a great way to save energy and great for the environment as well.

How about Texas-themed furniture? You know we live in the greatest state and are very proud of it!  Hang in there, Mac and thank you for everything that you have done for the Houston Police Department.   Denise.

It is nice to go to Gallery and see that Mack works side by side with his people-usually seen @front door

as you walk in the store - seems like 24/7- Mack do ya ever leave that stand and take a break - eat a meal  - take a day off???  Sometimes -or there have been a few times that I have been in there and your

extended work day shows in your attitude and in your voice.  Maybe you could have scheduled hours of appearance -posted daily according to your busy schedule for those that want to see you or talk to you.

And then you could answer calls -customer complaints-employee issues, etc. in a private area and not be so exposed on the floor-then your floor time could be more pleasant and of value to you and to your customers - it would be nice to see you fresher, friendlier and not so overworked - You deserve it - You have earned it!

Hi Mack!  I can't wait to see the new store.  Recently while shopping for a mango wood kitchen table set, and then for a bedroom set, we had a hard time trying to picture  how the scale of the set would fit in our room size.  It would be great if you had a program where we could come to the showroom with our room dimensions, then we could lay out the furniture pieces/sizes of sets we are comparing, to see if they will fit in the room.

This would help remove some of the fear that the pieces won't look right in the space available once they get home.  (It would also help my husband and I come to agreement over which size bedroom set will look right in our master bedroom so we can move forward!)

A loyal Gallery Customer,

Nadine

Nadine,

We have such a program as you describe and it is right on this web site!  Just click on the Plan Your Room online link at the bottom of most pages and it will take you to our room planner.

What about having a small activity area with toys and coloring activities to keep children occupied while the parent's shop?

HMasters

The children's play area will return as the main store repairs/renovations are completed.  Like before, it will be an attended play area.

I think you should have more transitional/modern furniture and maybe "Made in America" section. I'm sure people would prefer to buy and support American products!!

1) How about a covered walk from the far side of the parking, like at the park-and-rides.

2) Pick up electronics at the same dock as furniture.  It was very inconvienent to have to go to two separate places and wait twice.

3) Now, would be a great opprtunity to improve the online shopping experience.

As a teacher I could see a childrens area with attendants who read to the children-have a story time while parents shop. When they leave give the children a book with your information and some kind of coupon on the back. The biggest challenge we face in the classroom is getting children hooked on reading. They don't need more video games. Good luck on your rebuild, and thank you for all you do for the community!!

I am very impressed with your use of Web 2.0, Twitter, etc. However, you should limit your suggestion postings to customers that provide their profile. IN that regard, you should consider your own social software application.

You should build communities related to product reviews and recommendations.

You should take pictures of your customers in the store and help them build their online Gallery Furniture profiles. They should be able to post pictures of their new furniture in their homes. Pride is an important motivator.

I like the fact that you are moderating your site, but you do not know who is posting. They need to be authenticated. It would raise the quality of the dialogue.

You should consider providing social software seminars to your employees to expand your cheer leading section from one (you) to hundreds.

I can help.

Gallery Furniture has always provided excellent service, but what would really drive a difference between Gallery and other furniture stores would be the availability of items Made in America. No worries about dangerous chemicals, sweatshop-labor, shoddy quality, or damaging our economy; excellent quality from the nation that does it best. I buy American products when I can, even if they cost more.

I would really like to see a whole section (or several) devoted to fashionable, sturdy, American pieces. Thanks!

I'm very excited about our University of Houston football team playing against Texas Tech on September 26. All tickets are sold out and considering the limited number of student seating most of us will not be able to be there inside the stadium to cheer for our Cougars. As a student I want to say thank you for supporting the Houston Cougars. Providing an LED TV for all of us to watch our team on campus grounds is such a great idea because it's just another way for all of us to show our pride for our school. Again, thank you so much!! GO COOGS!!!!!

I went to the UH vs. Texas Tech game and i was surprise to see Gallery Furniture bring a giant TV screen for all the students that could not get tickets to the game.  Thanks a lot for the TV and food!  Next time have an interaction zone where students can play and participate to win " VIP Gallery Furniture seats"  right in front of the TV.  The "VIP gallery furniture seats" would be a private section with leather recliners or sofas provided by gallery furniture that students can sit at if they win the interaction game.  Thanks Mac!

From,

aglv Future UH graduate and Gallery Furniture customer.

Great Idea!

I would want Gallery Furniture to sponsor viewing parties for away games. I like the private section idea. GO COOOOOGGGGSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks MACK for the giant tv!
