Can Solid Wood Furniture Handle Humidity? Here’s the Answer

Customer asked me one day, they said, “The salesperson at the other shop told them veneer is actually more durable in humidity, is that true?”

It's partially true and often used to say the wrong thing. Real veneer over a stable substrate can resist warping better than a single slab of solid wood but I can tell you this much.

I've been carrying solid wood furniture made by the Amish since before the turn of the century, we've never had an Amish piece warp.

Some veneer over substrate solids is okay. Veneer over plywood, run away from it, it's not good for chemicals emitting from it oftentimes and it's not good for lasting a long time.
