Ships Today vs. Delivered Today: What Furniture Buyers Should Know

What's the difference in terminology between ships today and delivery today? That's a frequently asked question.

Ships today often means the product leaves the warehouse. I had a customer in here the other day, they're mad as a wet hen.

They were buying several rooms of furniture at one of our competitors, and they said it's in stock. They said it's shipping today, and they said, "Okay, that's fine." So they went to pay for it, and they said it's going to deliver in four weeks.

They said, "Your salesman just told me to ship it today." Yeah, we're going to ship it out of our warehouse, but our warehouse is on the U.S.-Canadian border. Uh, really? So I'm going to get it in three weeks.
