The Inspiration Behind Mattress Mack's Work Ethic

People ask me all the time. They say, "Mattress Mack, why do you still work? Why don't you go home and kick back?"

I work because work is life's greatest therapy. And I'm getting a lot of therapy out here. I had open-heart surgery a couple of years ago. It was kind of like a horse kicking me in the heart. But, you know, I relaxed and reclined and rejuvenated in my MacZcliner for a couple of weeks, and I came right back to work.

But I must admit, I'm only working halftime now. I work 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. That's halftime.

But I work because I love dealing with our great customers. I work because I love to be inspired.

Countless days, people come out here, these wonderful parents with their autistic child, their son, their daughter, a child maybe four years old, 14 or 24 or 44 years old. Those parents are there loving on that child every single day.

I see modern-day saints at Gallery Furniture every day. That's why I still come to work, because I love to interact with customers and be inspired by great customers like you.

So come out to Gallery Furniture. You'll probably see me at Gallery Furniture North Freeway. I only work halftime now, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but I'm here for you.
