You know, you go to most furniture factories, especially in China or Vietnam, and you get bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, staple guns going constantly. The staple manufacturers love them. The people who buy that furniture don't.

You know what staples are great for? Attaching paper, not holding together a dining room table your family's going to use for 50 or 60 years.

Mass-produced cheap furniture, particle board, uses staples because they're quick, inexpensive, and easy. American craftsmen would rather spend the extra time using proper joinery, hardwood dowels, and traditional construction methods that have proven themselves for generations.

That's one reason Amish furniture feels so solid, because it is. You don't hear squeaks, you don't hear wobbling, you simply enjoy beautiful furniture that's built exactly the way furniture ought to be, used to be, and should be, and is now.
