Mack, why is Made in America so important to you? Made in America is important to me because we need jobs in this country. You know, back in the early 2000s, the story was we're going to take all these sweaty furniture-making jobs and ship them over to the Far East, to Vietnam and Asia and China, wherever, and we're going to replace them with high-tech jobs. Well, how'd that work out? It didn't work out.
There were no high-tech jobs to replace them, and so we had a huge oxycodone crisis, and we had a fentanyl crisis, and millions of people are now dead. We need an industrial base in this country. Made in America is important to me because jobs for Americans are the most important thing.
Some of the happiest people I know are the Amish craftsmen in Ohio and Indiana that make this solid wood desk, make these solid wood dining room tables and chairs, solid wood coffee tables that we carry, bedroom, etc. They're happy because they have a great job, they have a great community, they have a great life. Americans need to know that work is what defines us.
Work brings purpose and meaning to life. We need an industrial base in this country, and at Gallery Furniture, we're trying to help redevelop and re-establish that industrial base. Made in America means a lot to us.
